How do you define “sanity” – for me it is easy – her name is Katie, and she’s my amazing studio manager, retouch artist, sounding board, sales guru, confidant, and friend. I could pretend to find the words to say how grateful I am for her, but they would fall short on so many levels. She truly is my sanity…without her you better believe I’d lose my mind. I realized that although many of you have met her or heard her vibrant voice on the phone, I have never really formally introduced her….so, here she is – the beautiful, extraordinary, should be sainted for being able to deal with my zaniness every day, Katie!!

First Session of 2011 | Levi

Levi’s mommy answered our “casting call” for newborn models – am I the luckiest photographer alive or what? He was an absolute dream to photograph and the perfect way to start the year. He arrived sleeping, and left sleeping – and we got through at least 4 different sets. LOVED HIM! I just had to post at least one photo of this adorable newbie!

If you aren’t our friend on Facebook, we are looking for 5 newborn models for January and another 5 for February to play with our new props! The session is complimentary, but does not include prints.

2011 Events | Promotions

Grab your planner….this year is going to be PACKED with fun events, express sessions, charity fundraisers, and general mayhem!

Express Sessions - EVERY Month!! These were too fun last year not to make them a monthly thing. For more information on Express Sessions, how they work, the special packages available, and why they are a great way to try out the studio or get photos of your every growing little ones more often, click here.

Facebook Facelifts - OK, let’s face it people, we’re addicted….so why not have a smokin’ updated Facebook photo?! Easy peasy – $25 gets you THREE web sized images to post on FB!!

Mini Sessions – Somewhere in between a full session and an express session, mini sessions are one hour themed sessions with predesigned packages and limited poses to choose from. This year we’ll be doing Boudior Minis (January – just in time to surprise him for Valentines Day), Mom & Me (May), Daddy Days (June), and Holiday (October/November). Details for each mini will be posted here on the blog.

X-mas in July – four weeks, for specials.

Dog Days of Summer – Express Sessions for our favorite furry friends – with a twist. 1/2 of each session fee will be donated to Lifeline Puppy Rescue and a free gift will be yours if you donate a 10 lb bag of dog food!!

An “As Yet to be Named” Kids Event – April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, so on the 16th we will be hosting a Kids fundraising event similar to our Girls Night Out event to raise awareness and funds for Family Tree (our very favoritest charity in the whole world). There will be shopping, crafts and games for the kiddos, raffle prizes, and a whole lot of fun!

Girl’s Night Out - October 13th – Our annual fundraiser to spread awareness of Domestic Violence and once again help out our friends at Family Tree

And who knows what else we’ll come up with as the year progresses!!!

Project 365 | Personal

For the past 5 years I’ve tried, very unsuccessfully, to complete a Project 365 – one photo each day for 365 days. Yeah, I know, I’m a photographer, this should be easy, right? WRONG. I think that the furthest I’ve ever gotten, actually, is 42 photos. I have wonderful intentions, but my follow through is Pathetic – I know. So, once again, I’m trying. You can follow along if you wish – I’ll be posting the images to my FB page (I’m Tanja Butler Melone, if we aren’t already friends).

Happy New Year!

Unbelievable as it is, here we are in 2011! Usually I start the year writing my list of resolutions – hoping that I make it through at least a day without breaking one – convincing myself that THIS YEAR, I’ll really stick to them – BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The truth is, I always make resolutions that are unattainable (wonder what Freud would say about that one). So this morning I sat down with my trusty journal – you know, the one that gets written in about twice a year – and looked at last year’s list – OOPS. I’ll just leave it at that. But it did get me thinking, reflecting really, about all that I did get done this year and where I was met with the most disappointment, where I could have done better…

Guess what I discovered…..In 2010, I played it safe….really safe….both personally and in business. THAT is my biggest disappointment. I allowed myself to get so tied up in the everyday tasks, the routines, the “to do” lists that I forgot to LIVE – to challenge myself, to grow, to take risks and push myself WAY beyond my comfort zone! So, in 2011, I resolve to be AFRAID….I resolve to push myself beyond my self- imposed limits and face my fears head on. AND, most important, I resolve to make sure that I don’t allow everyday routines to consume me to the point that I lose sight of what is truly important – family, friends, love, laughter and beautiful memories!!

OH, and….I resolve to blog more….BWAHAHAHAHA – Happy 2011 everyone!

EVENTS: Girls Night Out – October 21st

Hello Ladies!!!!!!!!!

It is time for Girl’s Night Out part deux! After our first GNO event in April, the amazing people at Family Tree asked us if we would host a second event this month since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We, of course, replied with an emphatic YES!!! So, here it is, our second GNO fundraiser event to benefit Family Tree

WHEN: Thursday, October 21st – 4-8pm

WHERE: The Loft – 1320 27th Street (corner of 27th and Larimer)

WHO: Anyone and Everyone!

WHAT: A fun evening of shopping —- we have a number of fabulous local vendors — snacking, socializing, and sharing!! There is NO FEE to attend the event – we will be selling raffle tickets and drink tickets that evening with all proceeds going to Family Tree. Each vendor has also graciously agreed to donate 10% of the evening’s sales to Family Tree.

Come out and help us raise funding and awareness for this fabulous organization.
