Well, hello there!

Welcome to the "behind the lens" peek into Contemporary Expressions Photography. I am so incredibly blessed that my passion for this amazing art form is also my profession and I'm absolutely honored each time I am asked to capture special moments in my client's lives --- new life, the wonder of childhood, the excitement of Senior Year, the blending of two lives --- LOVE. This is just the little corner of the internet where I'm able to share my passion with all of you, give you a peek at recent sessions, keep you updated on studio promotions and goings-on, and offer a little glimpse into my world...

a world I cherish ----- whether I'm looking at it through the lens or with both eyes wide open!

You Tube Thursday: I love the world

So, I’m way slow on the uptake with YouTube….so most of you have probably already seen this….but I saw it a couple days ago and fell in love with it!  ENJOY

Promotions: Express Sessions Explained

So, many of you have noticed that we have started doing Express Sessions this year on a regular basis (shooting for one a month)….and we’ve gotten a lot of questions….so here it is – Express Sessions Unmasked – LOL.

What is an Express Session? How much does it cost?  What makes it different?  You should find all those answers and more below!  And just as a heads up (HINT HINT….our X-mas in July just might include express sessions ALL MONTH LONG – not just two days).

You Tube Thursdays: A day late…. but worth it!

YouTube Thursday coming this week to you on Friday as an added end-of-the-week bonus!

You Tube Thursday: You go, drummer guy!!!

We should all have this sort of enthusiasm for our work…..really!!!!

Senior Style Saturday: Converse

Converse… They were popular when I graduated high school… Er… Um… A long time ago, and they are still popular today – for good reason. They look great with jeans, great with skirts, great with suits, great with shorts…. they may just be the world’s most perfect footwear! We see cons more often than any type of shoe and no matter the outfit, we LOVE them! Face it – they come in every color of the rainbow, they look great brand-new or beat up, and if throw you on top of a bunch of tires, you are less likely to fall off than if you are wearing five inch heals. So there it is, our ode to cons…. love them, wear them, BRING THEM!

You Tube Thursday: Soccer Street Style – Jaw Drop

So….little known fact about me (along with the fact that I was a professional clown and cleaned the bat cave at the zoo….) – I was a soccer coach for a few years.  Now, when I say coach, what I really mean is that I followed a swarm of 5 year old bees chasing a ball around the grass for an hour twice a week, hahaha.  I love the sport (played in HS and on indoor leagues in college) so when I saw this today, I knew it was the perfect You Tube Thursday video to share – these guys are INSANE!!!!  I’ve watched it about 10 times now and I’m simply in awe…hope you enjoy…

YouTube Thursday: Daily Affirmation

So my dear friend Tennille King does YouTube Tuesdays on her blog….and I loved the idea so much that I had to “borrow” it from her (with her permission of course)….and I knew the perfect video to start with.  Someone shared this on Facebook this week and I thought it was the greatest thing ever!!!!  Could you imagine if we all started each day this way —- we’d be unstoppable!!!!  I like my job….I like my clients….I like my computer….I like my LIFE — I can do ANYTHING!!

Promotions: Mommy & Me

wow….so Mother’s day is THIS Sunday – seriously, where has this year gone?  As we do every May, it is time to honor the relationship between Mommies and thier kiddos.  For our Mommy and Me sessions, we really focus on that amazing bond – we snuggle, we tickle, we hug….we have fun….and we celebrate being moms!  Here’s a little hint too – these photos make great Father’s day gifts.

So to all of you mommies, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!  To my mommies – Mom and Grams – from the depths of my soul, for all you have given me, all you have taught me, all the ways in which you have shown me to LIVE – a special mom’s day wish to you both — miss you both so very much.  And to my little Man, my light, my heart – I’m so lucky to be your Mom!!!!

So after that sappiness that just poured from my fingers….you probably want to know what we’re doing, huh?

Gratitude: Girls Night Out

Thank you….those words do not seem nearly adequate to express the depth of my gratitude to everyone who participated in Girls Night Out last week – guests and vendors!  It was such a fun evening of socializing, sharing, shopping and GIVING!  We were able to raise a good donation for Family Tree (www.thefamilytree.org) to support victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and homelessness…AND….we are looking at doing it again in October!!

While I’m certain that I will, in my unfortunate brain fog, neglect to thanks someone personally – my sincere appreciation goes out to our vendors and those who provided raffle items:

Senior Style Saturday: Keep it Casual

181. Back-To-School outfit #25 [i think?]
Gone are the days when every senior portrait outfit has to be “traditional” or “dressy” – the casual look is absolutely appropriate (as long as mom agrees of course).  But casual still needs to be done well.  A simple t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops work…..but don’t forget the accessories – they turn a simple outfit into simply chic.  Hats, scarves, shoes, jewelry, jackets….we love them all.
Just look at some of the other outfits we found where the accessories take the T-shirt and Jeans concept from flat to fabulous…….
